Again we are next to Fototrekking in Sewell, the mining city located on the slopes of Cerro Negro, to enjoy an intense photographic day in this place listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
It’s December, our Fototrekking in Sewell started early in Santiago where we met with the group of participants to move to the city of Rancagua where the guide and driver of our van would be waiting for us.
With a few minutes ahead of the estimated time we arrived and began to climb the Carretera del Cobre to the control point established by Codelco before entering the road that will take us to the mining town of Sewell located at more than 2,140 meters above the level from sea.
For the altitude it is necessary to walk slowly for at least the first few minutes and for this we visited the building of «El Teniente Club», with carefully restored facilities that allow us to discover the level of construction and luxury with which we worked in that mining site almost a century ago.
The club was intended for «A» role officers and their families, and among its facilities included a large tempered pool.
One of the main characteristics of Sewell is the absence of streets. Its main street, for example, consists of a grand staircase, from which you can access the city.

At present, 50 original buildings remain standing, which have been restored to welcome the public and have an idea of how they worked and lived in the rigor of the mountain.
